[He doesn't sleep at night, but even if one could say that it's because of the vampirism, he was doing the equivalent of what an insomniac typically does at night when they can't sleep: staring at the ceiling while thinking about one's life until he had noticed his device light up with an incoming message near by.

Normally he would have been at his office for writing up files and doing therapy sessions for the night denizens of Ryslig, but... well. Aunamee knows his schedule has been significantly cleared from that thanks to recent events.]

While there always was a sense of self-preservation due to Aunamee not being the most subtle person when it came to their murders, a part of Danny had also assumed that Aunamee was on a level of self-preservation too in regards to keeping their relationship quiet: what would people say, if they knew a powerful man like Aunamee was seen in the company of someone like Danny, who isn't nearly as charismatic despite his own efforts to pretend to be otherwise?

Which, he ends up admitting, after a moment.]

I always imagined that they would say that you could do better than someone like me regardless, to be honest. You've got power and notoriety as one of Her priests, and I'm a doctor that collects eyes.

Though, I suppose it doesn't matter what people think of me now. Not when people so easily can turn on me just on the say-so of two teenage girls with little evidence. Which is disappointing, to say the least: if I was going to lose the people's trust, I would have preferred having done so via something far more worth getting upset over.

I've said it before, dearest Daniel. You're special. Anyone with eyes should be able to see that, but the people of this peninsula willfully blind themselves. You do them a favor by removing their eyes, those vestigial organs of theirs. They sicken me.

You do not need to hide our relationship, Daniel. Let them know what they're up against.
